I get it. It’s July. But the arrival of a friend’s also-late “Christmas card” reminded me that with the birth of our daughter, I never got around to doing a year end post! Better late than never, right? Well, let’s just dive on in:
We spent the second winter in our home, which was much warmer thanks to insulation in the walls!
We found out we were expecting!
And we announced it to the world. Photos by my dear friend Amy.
We celebrated the Fourth of July with good friends.
Took a ferry ride in Chicago, not realizing how obnoxious the name Trump would become…
The Mister assisted me at a wedding for the first time. He was actually really helpful! ;)
I contemplated switching camera brands and Dixie the Doxie was kind enough to model for me.
We went floating down the Iowa River.
And had a crazy yummy cookout with friends who’ve become like family.
My baby bump kept growing larger.
I pretended for half a second that I was a landscape photographer.
The Mister was not as nice as the dog when I actually DID switch camera brands (Go Nikon!) and needed a model for fine tuning settings.
We drove 2000 miles exploring western Nebraska and the Black Hills of South Dakota. This was at Lake McConaughy.
I had a lovely baby shower back home in Nebraska.
My girl Cassie created some incredible maternity photos of me and my bump.
Halloween! Clever, right? :)
More maternity photos exactly 10 days before baby made her arrival, by none other than Amy.
GIRLFRIEND MADE HER ARRIVAL! After 20 hours of labor she was finally in our arms! Amy joined us to photograph the birth and it was the best decision ever to have her there.
And she was basically the most beautiful baby ever. More amazingness from Amy.
Then came Christmas in Nebraska.
And I realized how extremely hard it is to photograph a baby!
Disclaimer: I was given a free wallet in exchange for my review, however all opinions are my own.
It’s been forever since I have updated this blog! Oops… I guess that’s what happens when you have a baby, although 5 months is a bit excessive I’ll admit ;) A lot has been changing around here. What with learning to do life as a family of three, house updates and renovations (pics coming soon!), and wedding season kicking off, we’ve been busy! And our little Babe has started rolling around so it’s only a matter of time before we are chasing her all around the house!
A while back, the lovely folks at Anna Nova contacted me to see if I would review one of their products on my blog. I haven’t done this before, but I needed a new wallet anyway so why not! They sent me this pretty little number, the Ocean Embrace Trifold Wallet. And if there’s one way to win me over, it’s product packaging and Anna Nova definitely nailed it!
I originally thought I wanted one of their wallets that zips, because The Mister is crazy adamant about keeping receipts so I thought that would be a good way to keep them wrangled in my wallet. But it turns out my FAV thing about this wallet is that it does NOT zip! I can open it, get my card/money out, and close it all with one hand. This seems like a silly thing but it’s super important when you are holding a squirming baby!
I also like that it has a ton of places to store things. I keep receipts in one pocket, my cards in the slots, change in the zipper pouch, and then my drivers license and insurance cards in the slots with windows. Considering my last “wallet” was a credit card sized wristlet that had four card slots and then a zipper pouch where all of my loyalty cards got lost, this is a considerable upgrade :)
Since I have been so used to a little wallet though, the size has been a bit of an adjustment for me. It does fit in my diaper bag and even fits standing up long ways, but it does take up some space. This is true about most wallets, I’d assume, and not unique to just this one.
The only other thing I’m not a fan of is that the card slots are too deep. Meaning, if I slide my card all the way to the bottom of the pocket, only a tiny bit of the card shows and it’s super hard to get it back out. It’s not a huge deal for me, though, because the two cards I use most share a slot so they sit vertical next to each other in the pocket. Then I just have to remember not to push the card in all the way when using a loyalty or other card.
Otherwise, the wallet has held up well so far and is really pretty. I don’t use the wrist strap since I basically always have my diaper bag, but I know it would be useful when you wanted to travel light without a bag. If you’re in the market for a new wallet… definitely check out Anna Nova!
