It’s been a while since I’ve updated you on my balcony garden. My bad.
Almost everything I have is still alive. However, my lily has bloomed and gone. Still alive, but the lady at the store told me it would only bloom once every year. A bit sad really. I also got a vine, a CLEMATIS VINE that I wanted so bad, and it’s dead. Like f’real. I think it might be because I didn’t mulch the roots… apparently they’re pretty finicky. Bummer. It was only $3, though, so I’ll have to try again next year.
Other than that, things are still growing. I was actually able to harvest/pick some of the flowers to put in a vase (aka mason jar – all I have!) for my table. It’s so nice to have the color in the house, and it’s awesome to think that I grew it all. Incredible. Here’s a little peek at my little bouquet, featuring catmint, cosmos (I think!), and a bit of parsley because I needed more filler! Ha! (Images taken with the Fuji X100s for all you camera nerds!)
This little container is probably my absolute favorite this summer. I got the yellow flowers, exotic impatiens, at the grocery store of all places because I thought they were so pretty and different (I only have purple and pink in my garden right now). Then I went to the nursery to find something I could put with it, and found this awesome spiller plant called Silver Falls. Oh, my. I just absolutely love how it cascades. It didn’t start this full, so I’m super excited how it’s turned out. Totally growing Silver Falls every year no matter what!
Well, that’s about it for now. I have some Snapdragons (I think…) that I started from seed that are still alive, but haven’t bloomed yet. Next year I think I’m going to have to go all out when I start seeds and actually get a proper light and greenhouse thing going. Maybe building a greenhouse can be a fun project this fall for the Mister! I’m sure he’ll be thrilled when I tell him… :)
Happy Wednesday! Check out more posts about the garden here!
