The Mister and I celebrated our first anniversary last weekend, and we had a nice little mini vacation to Dubuque, Iowa to show for it. I’m excited to be crossing some more things off my 101 in 1001 list: go on an aquarium date (#22), celebrate wedding anniversary overnight somewhere other than our home (#82), and go to an art museum (#88).
We headed out to Dubuque on Saturday morning, and it was lunchtime when we got there. This place? Phenomenal.
Seriously, the food was so good.
I don’t know why, but I friggin’ love aquariums.
So funny story. When the Mister and I were first planning our wedding and throwing around the idea of a destination wedding, we started looking into the Cayman Islands. I fell madly in love and desperately wanted to go there, but we ended up choosing Mexico for the all-inclusive resorts that would make things easier on our families. Anyway, in the Cayman Islands, there is a place called Stingray City. A long time ago, fishermen would clean their fish on this big sandbar and throw the scraps overboard. After a while, the stingray associated the sound of boats to being fed, and they swarm to the sandbar. Because they’re so used to people, you can actually get in the water and play with them. SO AWESOME. I was most looking forward to that on our trip to the Cayman Islands, but alas, it will have to wait. Aren’t they just so cute, though?
