Family Photos and Getting in Front of the Camera

It’s kind of a scary thing being in front of the camera. I’ll admit I don’t do it as often as I should… it’s one of my goals for 2014. But it was time to create a nice photo of the Mister and I (and our fur child), so we set up a tripod behind our place and took a few shots. We still need to have a full fledged photo shoot at some point, but for our Christmas card, this should do!

So without further ado, here’s one of my faves of me, the Mister, and sweet Dixie.

For those of you curious, this was shot with my Canon 5D Mark II and my new (yay!) 50mm 1.2L lens. I used my Vello FreeWave wireless trigger system to take the photo. I seriously adore that trigger as it allows me to refocus between each shot and I don’t have to do the awkward set-timer-run-to-position thing (the trigger was in my hand behind the Mister’s back). The aperture was set to f/3.2, and I set the camera to engage all of the focus points and choose what it thought was best. It worked like a charm!

Happy Thursday!
